(17)
Stick on wax (plasticine) on electric motor starter sleeve (8a) and install electric motor starter
shield (4) on electric motor Starter (8) until restagainst shield connector (25).
(18)
Remove electric motor starter shield (4) and measure height of wax "h" (see Dwg 402).
(19)
Select (choose) such a number of washers (6) (see 72-02-00, Table 203, item 34) so that the
pile formed by washer (5) (copper), washers (6) and spacer (7) has the height less by 0,05 mm
÷0,2 mm (.002 in .008 in.) than height of wax "h" measured in accordance to subitem (18).
(20)
Place lock-washer (2) (see 72-02-00, Table 203, item 33) and sleeve (3) on screw (1 ) and then
place screw in the hole of shield (4).
(21 ) Place on screw (1 ) the set of selected washers (5) and (6) and screw in sleeve (7). Screw in
sleeve (7) until it moves beyond threaded part of screw (1 ) becoming a washer.
NOTE:
Spacer (7) has internal thread cut only on part of its length. It should be screwed on
screw (1 ) in such a way so that the threaded part came first on the screw.
(22)
Place shield (4) on electric motor starter (8) until resistance, placing down the arrow "vertical
axis of the engine".
Tighten the screw (1 ) by torque wrench (see 72-02-00, Table 201, item 20 ÷ 25) applying the
torque of 2 Nm ÷ 3,9 Nm (0,2 kGm ÷ Q,4 kGm; 17 lb. in. ÷ 35 lb. in.) and bend lock-washer (2).
(23)
Measure using clearance gange - on four equally spaced points placed on circumference - the
clearance between electric motor starter shield (4) and washer (4a) (see Dwg 402).
This clearance should be 0,8 mm ÷1,2 mm (.031 ÷.047 in.).
(24)
Check the electric circuit of electric motor starter acc. to manual of helicopter's producer.
(25)
Perform engine cold motoring (see 71-02-00, ADJUSTMENT AND TESTS, item 3.C).
(26)
Perform engine starting on the ground (see 71-02-00, ADJUSTMENT AND TESTS, item 3.E)
and run the engine on ground idle rating for 2 ÷ 3 minutes.
(27)
Shutdown engine (see 71-02-00, ADJUSTMENT AND TESTS, item 3.G).
2. Removal and installation of the braking ring in electric motor starter connector.
NOTE:
Removal and installation of braking ring (22) is performed when its damage
or slip off from its seat in electric motor starter connector (23) is found
during removal and installation of electric motor starter (8) (see pnt. 1 ).
