Enjoying the Home Media Gallery
This r eceive r ’s Home Media Galle r y function allows you
to listen to audio files o r listen to Inte r net r adio stations
on a compute r o r othe r component connected to the
r eceive r ’s LAN te r minal. This chapte r desc r ibes the setup
and playback p r ocedu r es r equi r ed to enjoy these
featu r es. It is adviso r y that you also r efe r to the ope r ation
manual supplied with you r netwo r k component.

This r eceive r is equipped with the LAN te r minal and you
can enjoy the following featu r es by connecting you r
components to these te r minals.

Playback the music files stored in PCs

using this unit.


You can select and listen to you r favo r ite Inte r net
r adio station f r om the list of Inte r net r adio stations
c r eated, edited, and managed by the vTune r

Introduction
The Home Media Galle r y allows you to play music on
media se r ve r s connected on an identical Local A r ea
Netwo r k (LAN) as the r eceive r . This unit allows fo r the
playing of files sto r ed on the following:
• PCs r unning Mic r osoft Windows Vista o r XP with
Windows Media Playe r 11 installed
• PCs r unning Mic r osoft Windows 7 with Windows
Media Playe r 12 installed
• DLNA-compatible digital media se r ve r s (on PCs o r
othe r components)
Files sto r ed in a PC o r DMS (Digital Media Se r ve r ) as
desc r ibed above can be played via command f r om an
exte r nal Digital Media Cont r olle r (DMC). Devices
cont r olled by this DMC to play files a r e called DMRs
(Digital Media Rende r e r s). This r eceive r suppo r ts this
DMR function. When in the DMR mode, such ope r ations
as playing and stopping files can be pe r fo r med f r om the
exte r nal cont r olle
r . Volume adjustment and the muting
cont r ol a r e also possible.

The DMR mode is canceled if
the r emote cont r ol unit is ope r ated while in the DMR
mode (aside f r om ce r tain buttons, including the VOL +/–
, MUTE and DISP ).
To play back audio files sto r ed on components on the
netwo r k o r listen to Inte r net r adio stations, you must tu r n
on the DHCP se r ve r function of you r r oute r . In case you r
r oute r does not have the built-in DHCP se r ve r function, it
is necessa r y to set up the netwo r k manually. Othe r wise,
you cannot play back audio files sto r ed on components
on the netwo r k o r listen to Inte r net r adio stations. See
Network Setup menu
on page 112 fo r mo r e on this.

1 • To listen to Inte r net r adio stations, you must sign a cont r act with an ISP (Inte r net Se r vice P r ovide r ) befo r ehand.
• Photo o r video files cannot be played back.
• With Windows Media Playe r 11 o r Windows Media Playe r 12, you can even play back copy r ighted audio files on this r eceive r .
