Important
• The p r ocedu r e fo r setting the r eceive r ope r ation
mode diffe r s fo r the r emote cont r ols included with
the SC-LX83 and SC-LX73. Fo r the SC-LX83’s r emote
cont r ol, set the r emote cont r ol ope r ation selecto r
switch to RECEIVER . Fo r the SC-LX73’s r emote
cont r ol, p r ess the button. When “set the
r emote cont r ol to the r eceive r ope r ation mode” is
indicated in these inst r uctions, use the r espective
p r ocedu r e desc r ibed above.
Making receiver settings from the
System Setup menu
The following section desc r ibes how to change the
speake r - r elated settings manually and make va r ious
othe r settings (input selection, OSD language selection,
etc.).
1 Switch on the receiver and your TV.
Make su r e that the TV’s video input is set to this r eceive r .
2 Set the remote control to the receiver operation
mode, then press HOME MENU.

3 Select ‘System Setup’ from the Home Menu, then
press ENTER.
4 Select the setting you want to adjust.
•
Manual SP Setup
– Sets the type of connection used
fo r su rr ound back te r minals and the size, numbe r
distance and ove r all balance of the connected
speake r s (see
Manual speaker setup
below).
• Input Setup – Specifies what you’ve connected to
the digital, HDMI and component video inputs (see
The Input Setup menu on page 45).
• OSD Language – The GUI sc r een’s display language
can be changed (see Changing the TV format setting
on page 42).
• Network Setup – Conducts the setup necessa r y to
connect this unit to the netwo r k (see
Network Setup
menu
on page 112).
•
Other Setup
– Makes customized settings to r eflect
how you a r e using the r eceive r (see
The Other Setup
menu
on page 114).
Manual speaker setup
This r eceive r allows you to make detailed settings to
optimize the su rr ound sound pe r fo r mance. You only need
to make these settings once (unless you change the
placement of you
r cu rr ent speake r system o r add new
speake r s).
These settings a r e designed to customize you r system,
but if you’ r e satisfied with the settings made in
Automatically conducting optimum sound tuning (Full
Auto MCACC)
on page 43, it isn’t necessa r y to make all of
these settings.
CAUTION
• The test tones used in the Manual SP Setup a r e
output at high volume.
1 Select ‘Manual SP Setup’, then press ENTER.

2 Select the setting you want to adjust.
If you a r e doing this fo r the fi r st time, you may want to
adjust these settings in o r de r :

Speaker System
– Specifies how you a r e using you r
su rr ound back speake r s (page 110).
•
Speaker Setting
– Specifies the size and numbe r of
speake r s you’ve connected (page 110).
• Channel Level – Adjusts the ove r all balance of you r
speake r system (page 111).
• Speaker Distance – Specifies the distance of you r
speake r s f r om the listening position (page 111).
•
X-Curve
– Adjusts the tonal balance of you r speake r
system fo r movie soundt r acks (page 112).
•
THX Audio Setting
– Specifies whethe r you a r e
using a THX speake r setup (page 112).
3 Make the adjustments necessary for each setting,
pressing RETURN to confirm after each screen.
