powe r suddenly switches off.
• Tu r n down the volume.
• Lowe r the 63 Hz and 125 Hz equalize r levels in the
Manual MCACC setup
on page 101.
• Switch on the digital safety featu r e. While holding down ENTER on the f r ont panel, p r ess
 STANDBY/ON to set this r eceive r to the standby mode. Use TUNE
/
to select D.SAFETY
 OFF  , and then use PRESET

to select 1 o r 2 (select D.SAFETY  OFF  to deactivate this

• Check that the r e a r e no loose st r ands of speake r wi r e touching the r ea r panel o r anothe r set of
wi r es. If so, r e-attach the speake r wi r es, making su r e the r e a r e no st r ay st r ands.
• The r eceive r may have a se r ious p r oblem. Disconnect f r om the powe r and call a Pionee r autho r ized
independent se r vice company.
AMP ERR blinks in the display,
then the powe r automatically
switches off. The ADVANCED
MCACC
blinks and the powe r
does not tu r n on.
• The r eceive r may have a se r ious p r oblem. Do not t r y switching the r eceive r on. Unplug the r eceive r
f r om the wall and call a Pionee r autho r ized independent se r vice company.
The
PQLS
flashes and powe r
tu r ns off.
• The r e is a p r oblem with the r eceive r ’s powe r unit o r fan. T r y tu r ning on the powe r . If the same thing
happens, the r eceive r is damaged. Unplug the r eceive r f r om the wall and call a Pionee r autho r ized
independent se r vice company. (Othe r symptoms may appea r when the powe r is tu r ned on.)
FAN STOP

• Something is obst r ucting the fan. Remove the obst r uction and t r y switching the r eceive r back on.
If the fan is still not wo r king, o r you can’t r emove the object, unplug the r eceive r f r om the wall and
call a Pionee r autho r ized independent se r vice company.
• The fan is malfunctioning. Unplug the r eceive r f r om the wall and call a Pionee r autho r ized
independent se r vice company.
OVERHEAT blinks in the
display o r
AMP OVERHEAT
and the STANDBY/ON
indicato
r flash and the powe r
tu r ns off.
• Allow the unit to cool down in a well-ventilated place befo r e switching back on.
• Wait at least 1 minute, then t r y tu r ning the powe r on again.

• The powe r unit is damaged. Unplug the r eceive r f r om the wall and call a Pionee r autho r ized

Display blinks 12V TRG ERR . • An e rr o r has a r isen in the 12 V t r igge r jacks. Reconnect accu r ately then tu r n the powe r back on.
Symptom Remedy
No sound is output when an
input function is selected.

• Check the volume, mute setting (p r ess MUTE ) and speake r setting (p r ess SPEAKERS ).
• Make su r e the co rr ect input function is selected.
• Check that the MCACC setup mic r ophone is disconnected.
• Make su r e the co rr ect input signal is selected (p r ess
SIGNAL SEL
). Note that when
PCM
is
selected, you won’t be able to hea r any othe r signal fo r mat.
• Check that the sou r ce component is connected p r ope r ly (see
Connecting your equipment
on
page 19).
• Check that the speake
r s a r e connected p r ope r ly (see Connecting the speakers on page 23).
No sound f r om the su rr ound o r
cente r speake r s.
• Check that the Ste r eo listening mode o r the F r ont Stage Su rr ound Advance mode isn’t selected;
select one of the su rr ound listening modes (see Listening in surround sound on page 55).
• Check that the su rr ound/cente r speake r s a r e not set to NO (see
Speaker Setting
on page 110).
• Check the channel level settings (see Channel Level on page 111).
• Check the speake r connections (see
Connecting the speakers
on page 23).

• Check that the su rr ound back speake r s a r e set to LARGE o r SMALL , and the su rr ound speake r s
a r e not set to NO (see
Speaker Setting
on page 110).
• Check the speake r connections (see

on page 23). If only one su rr ound
back speake r is connected, make su r e it’s connected to the left channel speake r te r minal.
• Su rr ound back speake r s will not play while the Speaker System is set to Speaker B and audio is
being played th r ough speake r B.
