About the Remote Setup menu
The Remote Setup mode is set by p r essing the HOME
MENU button while p r essing MULTI OPERATION . The
diffe r ent items on the Remote Setup menu a r e desc r ibed
below. Fo r thei r setting p r ocedu r es, r efe r to the
explanations fo r the r espective items.
Note
• You can cancel o r exit any of the steps by p r ess and
hold MULTI OPERATION fo r a couple of seconds. To
go back a step, p r ess RETURN .
• Afte r one minute of inactivity, the r emote
automatically exits the ope r ation.
Setting What it does
PRESET
RECALL P r eset codes can be set fo r the va r ious input
functions. The r emote cont r ol codes of a numbe r
of othe r devices (including p r oducts of othe r
b r ands) a r e p r eset in the r emote cont r ol to allow
these devices to be ope r ated. See “Selecting
p r eset codes di r ectly” on page 79.
CODE
LEARNING If the desi r ed ope r ations cannot be pe r fo r med
even though you have set the p r eset codes, the
r emote cont r ol signals of othe r devices can be
lea r ned di r ectly. See “P r og r amming signals f r om
othe r r emote cont r ols” on page 80.
MULTI
OPERATE A se r ies of the r emote cont r ol ope r ations fo r
sta r ting listening o r viewing can be p r og r ammed.
Multiple r emote cont r ol codes can be set fo r the
diffe r ent input functions. See “Multi Ope r ation and
System Off” on page 82.
SYSTEM
OFF This is a function fo r automatically tu r ning off the
powe r of devices connected to the r eceive r .
Multiple r emote cont r ol codes can be set, as
desi r ed. See “Multi Ope r ation and System Off” on
page 82.
DIRECT
FUNC This is a setting fo r changing only the r emote
cont r ol unit’s ope r ation sc r een, without changing
the r eceive r ’s input, when the r emote cont r ol
unit’s input function buttons a r e p r essed. This is
convenient fo r using the r emote cont r ol unit fo r
devices not connected to the r eceive r . See “Di r ect
function” on page 82.
RENAME The names of the input function buttons displayed
on the
r emote cont r ol unit can be changed as
desi r ed. See “Renaming input function names
manually” on page 81.
SYNC
RENAMING
Input function names changed on the r eceive r can
be acqui r ed by the r emote cont r ol unit so that the
names a r e the same on the r emote cont r ol unit.

ERASE
LEARNING
This function is used to e r ase r emote cont r ol
codes that have been lea r ned. Codes lea r ned fo r
the diffe r ent input functions can be e r ased

IR/RF
SELECT
This function is fo r selecting wi r eless (RF) o r
inf r a r ed (IR) as the r emote cont r ol ope r ating mode
fo r the diffe r ent devices. See

OPERATION
MODE
The r emote cont r ol unit’s ope r ation sc r een
switches automatically when the r eceive r ’s input
is switched (This is only valid when the ope r ation
selecto r switch is set to SOURCE ). See “Setting the
r emote cont r ol ope r ation mode” on page 89.
KEY RESET
This is a function fo r r esetting p r eset codes that
have been set. Key r esetting can be done fo r
individual input functions. See “Resetting the
input assignment of one of the input function
buttons” on page 81.
ALL RESET
This is a function fo r r esetting all r emote cont r ol
unit settings you have made to the defaults set
upon shipment f
r om the facto r y. See “Resetting
the r emote cont r ol settings” on page 81.
READ
PRESET ID The p r eset codes set fo r the diffe r ent input
functions can be checked. See “Confi r ming p r eset
codes” on page 81.
CHANGE
RC MODE If you have multiple Pionee r r eceive r s, amplifie r s,
etc., this setting can be used to p r event othe r units
f r om ope r ating simultaneously when the r emote
cont r ol unit is ope r ated. See “Ope r ating multiple
r eceive r s” on page 79.
EXIT
SETUP Exits the setup menu.
