Direct function
• Default setting: ON
You can use the di r ect function featu r e to cont r ol one
component using the r emote cont r ol while at the same
time, using you r r eceive r to playback a diffe r ent
component. This could let you, fo r example, use the
r emote cont r ol to set up and listen to a CD on the
r eceive r , and then use the r emote cont r ol to r ewind a
tape in you r VCR while you continue to listen to you r CD
playe r .
When di r ect function is on, any component you select
(using the input function buttons) will be selected by both
the
r eceive r and the r emote cont r ol. When you tu r n di r ect
function off, you can ope r ate the r emote cont r ol without
affecting the r eceive r .
1 While pressing MULTI OPERATION, press HOME
MENU.
The r emote display shows
SETUP MENU

2 Use
/
to select ‘DIRECT FUNC’, then press
ENTER.
The r emote display p r ompts you fo r the button of the
input function you want to cont r ol.
3 Press the input function button for the component
you want to control, then press ENTER.

4 Use
/
to switch direct function ON or OFF, then
press ENTER.
The r emote display shows
OK
to confi r m the setting.
Multi Operation and System Off
The Multi Ope r ation featu r e allows you to p r og r am a
se r ies of up to 6 commands fo r the components in you r
system. Fo r example, you could tu r n on you r TV, tu r n on
you r DVD playe r and sta r t playing the loaded DVD using
only two buttons on the r emote cont r ol.
Simila r to multi ope r ations, System Off allows you to use
one button to stop and switch off a se r ies of components
in you r system at the same time.

Programming a multi-operation or a
shutdown sequence
Set the r emote cont r ol ope r ation mode selecto r switch to
RECEIVER when you want to p r og r am this r eceive r ’s
ope r ations, to SOURCE when you want to p r og r am
ope r ations of othe r components.
1 While pressing MULTI OPERATION, press HOME
MENU.
The r emote display shows

2 Use
/
to select ‘MULTI OPERATE’ or ‘SYSTEM
OFF’ from the menu and press ENTER.
If you selected Multi Operation
( MULTI OPERATE ), the
r emote display p r ompts you fo r an input function button.
If you selected System Off
(
SYSTEM OFF
), go to step 4.
3 Press the input function button for the component
that will start the multi-operation, then press ENTER.
Fo r example, if you want to sta r t the sequence by
switching on you r DVD playe r , p r ess DVD .
4 Use
/
to select ‘EDIT CODE’, then press ENTER.
To e r ase any p r eviously sto r ed multi-ope r ations (o r
shutdown sequences) select
CLEAR CODE
above.
5 Use
/
to select a command in the sequence, then
press ENTER.
If this is the fi r st command in the sequence, select 1ST
CODE . Othe r wise, simply choose the next command in
the sequence. PRESS KEY flashes afte r you p r ess ENTER .
6 If necessary, press the input function button for the
component whose command you want to input.
This is only necessa r y if the command is fo r a new
component (input function).
7 Select the button for the command you want to
input.
The following r emote cont r ol commands can be selected:

• Some units may take some time to powe r up, in which case multiple ope r ations may not be possible.
• Powe r on and off commands only wo r k with components that have a standby mode.
• Up to 5 commands can be p r og r ammed fo r System Off.
