LS 55 User’s Guide
Preparing the LS 55 for transport
The LS 55 is extremely robust, and needs only to have its shipping clamps secured
before transporting.
CAUTION
Always insert the shipping clamps before moving the LS 55.
Never forget to remove the shipping clamps before switching
on the
LS 55 again - or the calibration of one or both
monochromators could be severely corrupted leading to gross
wavelength errors.
Inserting the clamps
1.
Switch on the LS 55 and allow it to initialize fully.
If the LS 55 is already running, then switch it off and on again.
This is because the instrument is automatically driven to lock-down
monochromator positions at the end of initialisation.
WARNING
Switch off the mains supply switch of the LS 55 and remove
the mains supply cable before continuing this procedure.
2.
Switch off the LS 55 and remove the mains supply cable.
3.
Open the main cover as detailed in
4.
Remove the two shipping clamp plates, by undoing the screws that hold them
in place, as shown in Figure 132.
