Kittiwake LinerSCAN networks are factory tested, ID’s may have been set but conflict with
cylinders to which they are installed. To avoid duplicate ID’s the LinerSCAN network should be
powered ‘ON’ only when all sensors are installed.
After all sensors are working, go to the configuration tab (F3) and update all sensor values.
Quit then re-start the computer software once the settings have been made to ensure all sensors
are set up the same.
4.3 Setting Measurement Period
The recommended measurement interval is 5 minutes.
A half full sensor will give half the ppm reading – thus a full chamber is important for accurate
readings. This is automatically controlled by the LinerSCAN sensor; the sensor will only measure
when the measurement chamber is full.
Do not set the measure time greater than 1 hour.
4.3.1 Test Air and Engine Signals
Check function of Air pressure signal
Turn the sensor air supply off and allow the pressure in the airline to fall. The ‘No Air’ alarm should
sound after 5minutes.
Check function of Engine On/Off signal
Disconnect the engine signal at Terminal Box #2. The Software should show the engine as ‘ON’
Reconnect the engine signal at Terminal Box #2. The Software should show the engine as ‘OFF’
4.3.2 Testing alarms
Verify correct integration of the alarm into the ships alarm system:
Alarm How to test:
Sensor Blockage Close the oil outlet valve, after 3 consecutive
readings the alarm should sound. Re-open the
valve.
Yellow Alarm Set the Yellow alarm to 10ppm and Red to
1000ppm. The alarm will be easily reached with
normal levels of ppm.
Red Alarm Set the Yellow alarm to 10ppm and Red to
15ppm. The alarm will be easily reached with
normal levels of ppm.
No system air pressure Turn the air isolation valve off and allow sensors
to measure. Re-open the valve.
