SCAN
Jobs can include color bars that require a scan measurement. This is indicated by the color bar icon
above
the targeting area. In the scan targeting mode, the device display shows guide bars to help you scan the color
bars with your eXact 2 device. Refer to the software application for procedures on creating color bars.
Operation
The following instructions describe the procedures required to measure a color bar using the eXact 2 device.
Best Practices
Before scanning a color bar, inspect the patches for any defects or spots. Defects may cause inaccurate
measurements.
When scanning card stock, make sure to place an extra piece at the edge of the stock by the first and
last patch. This will ensure that the device is level during the whole scan.
For best results, always scan a color bar using steady, consistent speed. The display shows a speed
indicator to show when the proper speed is maintained.
Performing a Color Bar Measurement
1. Select the required job from the Jobs list. See Jobs section for additional information.
2. Spot measure the substrate if requested. If the substrate is changed a new substrate measurement must be
performed.
3. The color bar icon (1) on the top left indicates if a color bar scan is required.
4. Tap the
icon. In the results area on the right, the display shows the color bar’s front and back patches
(2) to help you identify the color bar to measure.
NOTE
: If the job includes multiple color bars, the results area on the right shows the color bars included in
the device. It also indicates the current color bar to measure.
5. Press the brake button (3) on the side and hold. Slide the locking switch (4) below the brake button towards
the back of the device to the On position. This will disengage the brake for scanning.
6. Press the Measure button on the device once. The device enters the Scan mode and is preparing to
scan (5).
