7 COMMISSIONING
7.1 Power on
FIRST POWER ON
: turn on the barbecue after 5 or 6
days of installation: the first lightings must be of a mod
-
erate heat.
Unpleasant odours or fumes are caused by the
evaporation or drying of certain materials used.
This phenomenon will tend to last for a few days
until it disappears.

To switch on, proceed as follows (F
ig. 7.1):
1. ensure that the ash box (A) is empty;
2. completely open the combustion air register (B -
where provided), to facilitate the draft of the fireplace
and the renewal of the ambient air;
3. open the fume gas outlet regulator completely by
operating the lever or chain (C);
4.
place crumpled paper into the firebox (near the back
wall or on the wood holder if you purchased this
accessory). Cover the paper with a small amount of
twigs or some thin, well-seasoned pieces of wood
in order to develop the flame as much as possible.
Light the paper and, as the fire grows, add wood for
approximately half of the recommended quantity
(see the wood loading table). As soon as the flames
have died down and they have formed a good bed
of embers, load the firebox with a normal quantity of
wood without overloading it;
5.
when the fireplace is at operating temperature,
adjust the fume gas regulator to an intermediate
position; a regulated draft of the fumes favours radi-
ation and heat exchange with the environment. N.B.:
For an optimal draft the flue must be kept clean from
deposits;
6.
the fire must always be done limited to the area
inside the side walls of the
Patio ;
7.
Do not extinguish the fire with water or any other
liquid in order to avoid thermal shocks to the Patio;
8.
The appearance of cracks, particularly following
intensive use of the Patio, is part of the normal be-
haviour of refractory cements and does not have the
slightest consequence on the perfect functionality of
the product;
9.
Do not leave children unattended near the flames.

1.
crumple a sheet of newspaper at the base;
2.
overlap a layer of dry wood chopped into small
pieces;
3. on top of everything, place the larger pieces destined
to produce embers, or charcoal.
The operation is much easier if your barbecue has a
log holder, which, moreover, also allows the continuous
production of embers for prolonged cooking.
