6.3 Outside air intake
•
The external air intake (D)
is essential to ensure
an adequate flow of
COMBUSTION
AIR
(Fig. 5.3.1).
Then drill a hole of the diameter indicated in the table
"Technical Specifications" on page

on a wall
facing the outside. The hole should possibly be made
below the level of the fire bed, behind or to the side of the
appliance.

A non-closable permanent aeration grid must be placed
externally; in areas that are particularly windy and ex
-
posed to weathering, provide rain and wind protection.
Ensure that the air intake is positioned so that it won't be
accidentally obstructed.
If it is not possible to create the fresh air intake in the
room, an external hole can be created in an adjacent
room provided it is permanently interconnected by
means of a transfer grille.
It is forbidden to take combustion air from garages, ware
-
houses of combustible material or places with activities
at risk of fire.
If there are other heating or extraction appliances
in the installation room, combustion malfunctions
may occur due to a lack of combustion air. The
combustion air intakes must therefore be sized
correctly, in order to ensure the necessary supply
of air for the correct operation of all devices.
•
Correct installation of the fume duct between the and
the fireplace must be watertight, sealing all the linking
joints with material suitable for high temperatures.
•
If the Patio is installed on a fireplace previously used by
other fire boxes, it is necessary to carry out thorough
cleaning to avoid abnormal functioning and to prevent
possible igniting of any unburned products that may be
deposited on the inner walls of the same.
• The installation requirements provide for the installa-
tion of a heat recovery grid as close as possible to the
ceiling (about 20 cm) (
C
) and with a minimum size of
400 cm
2
.
Incorrect installation can compromise the safety of
the equipment.
The lining must be made of fireproof material.
The flue gas evacuation duct must be equipped
with its own earth connection.
In normal operating conditions, the cleaning of the flue
must be carried out at least once a year.
• An air recirculation grid (
G
) must also be made in the
lower part of the cladding, with a minimum size of 400
cm
2
.
•
The floor must be made of non-combustible and
non-heat-sensitive material; otherwise, suitable pro
-
tection in insulating material must be provided (ref. UNI
10683).
•
Ensure to keep the necessary safety distances from
flammable materials as per the table below.
