When the Warm Start operating mode is selected, the receiver stops tracking satellites,
and then restarts searching for satellites using its current almanac. After acquiring one
or more satellites, the process continues until on or more satellite is tracked. Position
information does not need to be re-entered or determined after performing a Warm
Start.

In rare circumstances the receiver's stored data may be corrupted, causing erroneous
operation and possibly preventing proper acquisition of satellites. If it is suspected that
this condition exists, it is necessary to erase the data used by the receiver, and allow
collection of new data from the satellites.

While viewing the Maintenance Menu 2 of 5, press the Edit key until GPS
Receiver Status

 Normal

 or

 Warm Start

 is flashing.

Press the Edit key. Use the arrow keys to select the

Cold Start

 mode. Press the

Enter key to accept the selection.

THIS COMMAND WILL FORCE THE GPS RECEIVER
INTO COLD START. ARE YOU SURE:

No

Use the arrow keys to select

Yes

.

Press the Enter key to force the receiver into the Cold Start operation mode.

The internal GPS receiver's almanac is deleted, the latitude, longitude, and elevation
are set to zero. The receiver defaults to the

Dynamic

 position solution mode, starts the

satellite search and acquisition process, and collects a new almanac. This process can
take up to 30 minutes. Refer to paragraph 5.4.2 for selecting alternate position solution
modes to accelerate the acquisition process.
