INITIALIZATION
The physical installation must be completed as described in Section 3 before you
attempt to operate the unit.
If the unit has been stored at temperature extremes outside the normal operating
temperature range, allow the unit to attain a temperature within the normal operating
range before turn-on.
Note: The information shown on the LCD screens in this document is for illustration
only.
Verify that the external GPS antenna is connected to the rear panel TNC-type
connector identified with ANTENNA.
Note: Do not apply power unless a fully operational antenna system is properly
connected to the unit. Application of power without the antenna connected may result in
an extended "search-the-sky" for satellites process that may increase the time to reach
GPS lock drastically. To terminate the extended search process, cycle the unit's input
power.
Set the rear panel power switch to ON (upward).
Cold Start -
At initial
power-up, the unit's internal receiver defaults to the Cold Start
mode, and the position solution defaults to the
Position Averaging
mode. During this
mode, the unit down loads a current almanac and other pertinent data from the
satellites that are searched for and eventually acquired by the unit.
