5.4.2.1
Antenna Position/Mode Selection
At initial application of power, the unit normally defaults to
Cold Start
and
Position
Averaging
position mode. At subsequent application of power, the unit defaults to
Warm Start
and the position mode selected during the prior operation. To view the
active position solution mode:
•
Press key 2 until Position Menu 1 of 2 is selected (
Position Mode and
Location
).

This screen indicates the antenna position, and that the active position solution mode
is
Dynamic
. To change the position solution mode:
•
Press the Edit key.
•
Press the arrow keys until the desired Mode (
Pos Averaging
,
Known
, or
Dynamic
) is flashing. Select
Pos Averaging
if the antenna location is not
accurately known. Select
Known
if the antenna position is accurately known.

Press the Enter key to accept the selected mode.
If the
Pos Averaging
mode is selected, the unit will automatically determine the antenna
position. However, the acquisition of satellites can be accelerated if the user enters the
approximate position of the antenna, if available.
If the
Known
mode is selected, the unit uses the existing antenna position data. If the
existing position data is not accurate the timing accuracy of the unit will be degraded.
To change the position data:
•
Press the Edit key, and use the arrow keys, the numeric keys, and the Enter key
to enter the elevation, latitude, and longitude of the antenna.
Note: It is necessary to press the Enter key at each position element prompted by the
flashing cursor to properly load the position, even if only one element has been
changed.
