• During exercise, he reaches 171 beats per minute (BPM)
• His calculated MHR = 220 - 30 = 190 BPM
• Percentage of maximum heart rate = 171 / 190 x 100 % = 90 %
• His heart rate has passed the upper limit of 80 % MHR. The watch will alert him that he
slows down to go back to his objective heartbeat zone
How to set the heart rate zone alert
• Press the [D] button in the current time mode or the
countdown timer mode to get to the heart rate mode.
• If you were measuring your heart rate, press the [U]
button to stop heart rate acquisition.
• Hold the [M] button for 2 seconds until ‘ON’ or ‘
OFF’ starts flashing.
• Press the [U] or [D] button to set the value of the
flashing setting.
• Press the [M] button to select between the flashing
settings:
- ‘Zone ON/OFF’: select ‘ON’ to activate heart rate
zone alert.
- ‘Age’: enter your age which will be used to cal-
culate your Maximum Heart Rate.
- ‘Upper Limit in % of MHR’ (flashing in the upper right corner): set your desired upper
limit in percentage of your Maximum Heart Rate. Referring to the example above, this
value would be 80%.
- ‘Lower Limit in % of MHR’ (flashing in the lower right corner): set your desired lower
limit in percentage of your Maximum Heart Rate. Referring to the example above, this
value would be 60%.
- ‘Upper Limit’ (flashing in the upper right corner): allows you to enter directly your upper
limit in Beats Per Minute. If you set your upper limit in BPM, this will automatically
change the setting ‘Upper Limit in % of MHR’.
- ‘Lower Limit’ (flashing in the lower right corner. Note that the hundreds digit is the
double size of the 2 following digits): allows you to enter directly your lower limit in Beats
Per Minute. If you set your lower limit in BPM, this will automatically change the setting
‘Lower Limit in % of MHR’.
• Press the [U] or [D] button to set the value of the flashing setting (hold the buttons to
change set value at a higher speed).
• Hold the [M] button for 2 seconds to save your settings and exit the setting sequence. If
NO keystroke’s been activated for 1 min, the watch automatically exits the setting
sequence.
How to use the heart rate zone alert
Activate the heart rate zone alert following instructions
of the previous chapter ‘How to set the heart rate zone
alert’. The icon “ZONE ALERT” is displayed when the
heart rate zone alert is activated.

Within the objective range:
When the heart beat
falls within the objective range, the digits of the
watch remain still.
•
Higher than the objective range:
When the heart
beat is higher than the objective range, the indicator
HI will start flashing simultaneously as it beeps
every 8 seconds.
•
Lower than the objective range:
When the heart
beat is lower than the objective range, the indicator
LO will start flashing simultaneously as it beeps
every 8 seconds.
Using stopwatch in heart rate mode
While in the heart rate mode, you can also use an
independent stopwatch. The heart rate will be shown
at the same time as the stopwatch.
• Press the [D] button in the current time mode or the
countdown timer mode to get to the heart rate mode.
• Press the [M] button to enter the stopwatch function.
The percentage of maximum heart rate display will
be replaced by a counting display.
• Press the [U] button to start the counting.
• Hold the [U] button again to stop the counting.
How to reset the stopwatch
• Press the [U] to stop the counting.
Hold the [D] button for 2 seconds to reset the display
to ‘all zero’.
