Scanner Settings
OmniPage Pro Settings - 67
ADF Options
If you use a scanner with an automatic document feeder (ADF), you can
use the following options.
• Select Scan until Empty (the default setting) to scan every page in
your scanner’s ADF.
This setting is useful when you want to scan a stack of pages at
once. If Scan until Empty is not selected, OmniPage Pro only scans
the first page in your ADF and you must click the Image button
to scan each subsequent page.
• Select Double-sided Pages to scan pages that have text printed on
both sides.
OmniPage Pro scans pages and then prompts you to turn them
over so it can scan the reverse sides. If you have a stack of double-
sided pages, be sure to also select Scan until Empty. After
scanning, page images are displayed in Image View in the correct
order.
Scanner Options
The Scanner options area provides settings that give you control over
the scanner you use with OmniPage Pro.
Color Depth
Three buttons appear on the left side of the Scanner options: Color,
Grayscale, and Monochrome. Choose the setting that corresponds to the
type of scanning you want to do with OmniPage Pro.
Thresholding
3D OCR
Select 3D OCR to get high-quality scanned images and the best OCR
accuracy possible if you have a color or grayscale scanner. This
technology uses the grayscale information on a page to view individual
characters clearly and completely during OCR. This is recommended for
scanning degraded copies, text on colored or shaded backgrounds, and
run-together or broken text characters.
3D OCR
is not supported by HP AccuPage scanners.
Resolution
The Resolution option selects the dpi (dots per inch) resolution that is
used for scanning pages with OmniPage Pro. If it is supported by your
scanner (and its related driver), you may select a resolution of up to 600
dpi. Color, however, is limited to 300 dpi.
Higher resolutions generally mean better accuracy, at the expense of
increased file size and OCR processing time.
