4.1.1
Mounting the System Components
Each NAVIGUIDE 4000 system is delivered with a set of dimension drawings for
the individual components. Additional detailed installation instructions may be pro-
vided by the shipowner or yard. If installation-specific connection drawings are
provided, these may also include graphical representations of the placement of
control devices at the respective steering positions.
4.1.2
Adjustment of Steering Gear Feedback Units
In any NAVIGUIDE 4000 system which includes one or more steering gear feed-
back units, special attention must be paid to the proper mechanical adjustment of
the feedback units. Only the zero-point adjustment and the linear scale factor for
the feedback voltage can be adjusted via the SCU configuration setup. Existing
non-linearities in the feedback travel must be minimized through mechanical ad-
justment.
Note
Check the dimension drawings provided for informations regarding the mounting
and placement of individual components.
Caution
When the system contains more than one SCU, it must be made sure that the
feedback units are adjusted for identical travel, as exactly as possible.
Inaccurate mechanical adjustment of the feedback units in a multi SCU system
may lead to asynchronous actuation of the individual SCUs’ pump sections and
result in hunting of the steering gear.
