Overriding Auto/Ext. Steering Modes (FU Bus Override)
If the system is configured for FU bus override, one or more FU Miniwheel or
Wheel Control Units at one or more steering positions may temporarily override
the Auto and/or the External steering mode.
During FU bus override, the bus steering is not disengaged but the FU steering
mode becomes active and control is transferred to the FU device which activated
the override mode.
Once FU bus override is active, the FU device remains in control of the rudder until
the operator cancels the override mode.
To activate FU bus override...
At the FU device which is to activate override, move the FU control (mini-
of helm wheel) from its current position.
The FU device is put into control of the rudder. „Override Active“ is
shown on the display. Other bus devices display „Overr.“ and the position
of the device now in control.
The FU device which activated override now remains in control until the
override mode is cancelled.
To cancel the FU bus override mode...
Press the „Previous Mode“ key on the FU device which activated the
override mode.
Override mode is cancelled and the previous steering mode (Auto or
External) becomes active again at the previuosly active steering position.
Caution
FU Bus Override must be used only in situations where control is to be transferred
immediately from a NAVIPILOT 4000 or an external system to a FU device, e.g. to
dodge an obstacle.
If any indication of a general fault of the bus steering exists, use NFU override or
switch to the NFU steering mode directly.
Note
Depending on the system configuration, FU Bus Override may be available for the
Auto and the External steering mode or for only one of these modes.
The system may also be configured such that „Previous Mode“ may be pressed at
any bus device. However, it is not recommended to use this feature.
