Dual FU / NFU Manual Steering for Single Rudder

Fig.1–4 shows a basic dual FU / NFU manual steering system (FF/NN).

In contrast to the F/NN system, the FF/NN system contains two SCUs, each of
which is controlling a separate steering gear pump.
During normal operation, one of the SCUs will become the bus master and control
all bus communications. The other SCU will become a slave unit. In case of failure
of the master unit, the slave will assume the master role, thus ensuring redun-
dancy of the system.
