Synchronous / Independent Rudder Control
In dual rudder systems, one or more steering positions may be equipped with a
DRS and two FUMs. These positions are capable of switching between synchro-
nous and independent rudder control.
When control is transferred to a position capable of independent rudder control,
the position will initially be in the synchronous control mode, except when control
was transferred from another position where the independent control mode was
active at the moment of transfer.
To switch to the independent rudder control mode...
At the DRS, press the softkey assigned to the synchronous mode.
Both FUMs become active. The stb. FUM controls the stb. rudder and
the port FUM controls the port rudder.
To switch to the synchronous rudder control mode...
At the DRS, press the softkey assigned to the independent mode.
The port FUM becomes inactive. The stb. FUM controls both the stb. and
the port rudder.
Note
When the independent rudder control mode is active and control is transferred to a
position where independent control is not available, the system switches to the
synchronous control mode automatically.
