Overriding Bus Steering (NFU Override)
2.3.5.1
Forced Override
When the NFU override unit is installed, the operator may quickly override the bus
steering by taking control to the NFU override tiller.
During forced override, the bus steering is disengaged and the override tiller actu-
ates the stb. and port solenoids directly.
Once override has been activated, the override tiller remains in control of the rud-
der until the operator cancels the override mode.
To activate forced override...
Move the NFU override tiller out of the midship’s detent.
The tiller is put into control of the rudder immediately.
The „Override“ indicator flashes and the audible override alarm is given
at the override unit.
The tiller now remains in control until the override mode is cancelled.
To cancel the override mode...
Press the „Previous Mode“ key on the override unit.
The „Override“ indicator lamp extinguishes and the audible override
alarm is muted.
The bus device which was active before the override mode is now back
in control.
Note
Depending on the system configuration, forced override may not be available in all
steering modes.
