Jog Override
If no override unit is installed, the system may be configured for jog override. This
configuration will be mostly used when the Steering Mode Selector / NFU Tiller is
installed, but may also be used with a conventional NFU tiller.
Like forced override, jog override enables the operator to quickly override the bus
steering by taking control to the NFU override tiller.
During jog override, the bus steering is disengaged and the override tiller actuates
the stb. and port solenoids directly. However, jog override is only active as long as
the override tiller is moved from the midship’s detent. Releasing the tiller automati-
cally cancels the override mode.
To activate jog override...
Move the NFU override tiller out of the midship’s detent.
The tiller is put into control of the rudder immediately.
To cancel jog override...
Release the NFU override tiller to let it return to the midship’s detent.
Jog override is automatically cancelled and the bus device which was
active before the override mode is put back into control.
Note
Depending on the system configuration, jog override may not be available in all
steering modes.
Caution
Jog override should only be used to apply a brief correction to the vessel’s head-
ing, e.g. to dodge an obstacle.
Because the override mode is automatically cancelled when the override tiller is
released, the jog override mode does not allow to control the rudder angle as in
the regular NFU steering mode.
