Feedback
Function:
Configures the input for a feedback unit connected to the SCU(s).
Settings:
FEEDBACK ENABLED: NO
Disables the feedback input. Choose this setting only if no feed-
back unit ist connected to the SCU(s).
FEEDBACK ENABLED: YES
Enables the feedback input and accesses the max. angle and
calibration settings to configure the input.
CALIBRATION
Accesses the calibration sub-menu, which allows to zero the
feedback unit and to set the feedback gradient.
ZERO FEEDBACK: Sets the feedback unit’s zero point.
Put the rudder amidships. Press „OK“ to store the feedback
unit’s zero point setting.
FEEDBACK GRADIENT: Sets the feedback scale factor.
Put the rudder to hard over.
Note the rudder travel in degrees
Measure the DC voltage accross the feedback potentiome-
ter’s center tap and wiper terminals (TB1.67 and 1.65 at the
SCU).
Divide the measured voltage (in mV) by the noted rudder
travel (in °).
Enter the resulting value (mV/°) as the feedback gradient.
Caution
When the system contains more than one SCU, the electrical characteristics of the
feedback signals provided to the individual SCUs must be as closely matched as
possible.
Unmatched feedback voltages in a multi SCU system may lead to asynchronous
actuation of the individual SCUs’ pump sections and result in hunting of the steer-
ing gear.
