7.2: Setup of FU Control Units (3-Key-Units)

Dual Rudder

Function:

Configures the unit for use in dual rudder systems.

Settings:

DUAL RUDDER TYPE

NONE
No dual rudder function available with this unit. This is the re-
quired setting for all units in single rudder systems. In dual rud-
der systems, this setting is required for units which are not used
as port or stbd. control devices in conjunction with a DRS.

PORT
This unit is a port rudder control device. This is the required set-
ting for units used as dedicated port control devices in conjunc-
tion with a DRS.

STARBOARD
This unit is a starboard rudder control device. This is the re-
quired setting for units used as dedicated stbd. control devices in
conjunction with a DRS.

CONTROL GROUP

Displays the unit’s control group setting.

Actual Rudder

Function:

Enables or disables the actual rudder display.

Settings:

ON

Enables the actual rudder digital display. This is the preferred
setting for the FU Mini-wheel / Display Unit and for an FU Inter-
face / Display unit with a handwheel or miniwheel connected di-
rectly to the unit. Requires that a feedback unit is connected to
the SCU(s).

OFF

Disables the actual rudder digital display. This is the required
setting if no feedback is connected to the SCU(s), which may be
the case if only the analogue rudder order output is used.

Rudder Order

Function:

Enables or disables the rudder order display.

Settings:

ON

Enables the rudder order bargraph and digital display. This is the
required setting for the FU Mini-wheel / Display Unit.

OFF

Disables the rudder order bargraph and digital display. This is
the preferred setting for the FU Interface / Display Unit used in
conjunction with a handweel equipped with a graduated scale.
