2.1: General Concepts

When a Remote position is active in these systmes, control is offered to
other positions by pressing the „Takeover“ key at the Remote position.
Offers are then sent to all other positions, including Main. At a called po-
sition, control is taken over by pressing the „Takeover“ key.
Takeover:
When the Takeover method is configured, inactive positions may imme-
diately take over control from a currently active Remote position.

control transfer
A Remote position, however, cannot immediately take over control from
Main. To transfer control from Main to a Remote position, an offer must
be made by Main, similar to the Call-Up method described above.
Note
For safety reasons, the Main steering position does not need an offer to take over
control. Control may always be forced back to Main by selecting the FU or Auto
steering mode at the mechanical mode selector or the SMS at Main.

Note
On small vessels, a system may be installed without a main mode switch. In this
case, Remote positions may immediately take over control from Main, if the Take-
over method is configured.
