If the target passes into a blind arc of one radar but is still visible on the
other, the target will continue to be tracked as normal without any alerts
being raised. The same limits on maximum number of targets tracked
apply as for a single radar system.
Tracked Targets Capacity
Single Node
The tracked target capacity for a single node is dependent on the
Radar/Chart Radar product type being used, (see `
Product Types
’ in
Chapter 1 Overview).
If the Radar/Chart Radar product type is a CAT 1 or Enhanced CAT 2 the
maximum number of targets that can be tracked on a single node is 100.
If the product type is a CAT 2 Radar the maximum number of targets that
can be tracked on a single node is 60.
If the number of tracked targets is near the maximum allowed (95%
capacity) a caution is given;
Tracks Almost Full
. If the number of targets
reaches the maximum and the user attempts to acquire an additional target
a local
Tracks Full
warning is raised and no further targets may be tracked
on the node.
The warnings and cautions raised for tracked target capacity are
independent of how targets are actually acquired; whether manually,
through AIS activation, or automatically via an acquisition zone.
Multi- Node
The maximum number of targets that can be tracked on a multi-node
system is 200.
If the number of tracked targets reaches 95% of the system maximum a
caution is given;

tracked on the nodes.
On a three node system each node may track up to 100 targets
individually; but if the first node is tracking 50 targets and the second node
75 targets, the third node may only track up to 75 targets. In this case, the

warning would be raised when an attempt is made to
acquire the 201
st
target, but the local
Tracks Full
warning would not be
raised since none of the nodes have reached their maximum.
