Configuring the System 3-43
This completes the OS Restore (or “Fix OS”) procedure.
Proceed to one of the next sections (see “Installing
Applications” or “NEC Driver CD”).
Installing Applications
The Selective Application Restore takes place once the
Windows OS is running and lets you choose the application
software to install or reinstall. Use this program to install
selected applications from the CD after rebuilding your hard
drive, or at any time to install a software package or device
driver that came on the NEC Select Install CD.
Follow these steps to install any of the operating system files
or device drivers that have been factory-installed on the hard
drive, or any of the applications that came on the CD.
Note:
To install drivers that have not been
factory-installed on the hard drive, see “NEC
Driver CD.”
1.
With the operating system running, insert the NEC Select
Install CD into the CD-ROM drive.
The CD autorun feature generates the NEC Selective
Application Restore Program screen.
If you do not have autorun enabled, open Windows
Explorer, click on the CD-ROM icon, and double-click
Setup.exe
.
Only the applications that work with your system’s OS
appear in the Select Install Program screen. For example,
if your OS is Windows 95, but there are applications for
both Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 on the CD, only
the applications for Windows 95 appear.
