
9.16.3 Charge-air coolant – Draining

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Charge-air coolant – Draining
1.
Provide a suitable container to catch the coolant.
2.
Turn valve cover on coolant expansion tank counterclockwise to the first stop and allow pressure to escape.
3.
Continue to turn valve cover counterclockwise and remove.
4.
Draw off separated corrosion inhibitor oil in expansion tank through the filler neck.
5.
Unscrew drain plug (1) and drain charge-air
coolant at thermostat housing.
6.
Open drain valve (2) and drain charge-air
coolant at charge-air coolant pump.
