9.4.3 Valve clearance – Check and adjustment

Preconditions

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

☑

Engine coolant temperature is max. 40 °C.

☑

Valves are closed.

Preparatory steps

1.

Remove cylinder head cover (→ Page 207).

2.

Install barring device (→ Page 189).

Note:

Pointer (1) is located in the lower opening of
the flywheel housing (arrow).

3.

Use barring device to turn crankshaft in di-
rection of rotation until the OT/A1 mark on
the rear side of the flywheel and pointer (1)
are aligned.
