Workstation 4 Diagnostic Utility
\DOC\ScrnSaver Folder
New with the GR 2.2 Platform, this folder contains the WS4 Screen Saver. When
shipped from the factory, the WS4 Screen Saver is not active. The Screen Saver
can be activated by using My Computer to navigate to the \DOC\ScrnSaver folder
and double-clicking the scrnsav.exe file.
This action starts the WS4 Screen Saver with a five minute activation period using
the default MICROS.BMP logo bitmap. It also creates a screen saver applet in the
Windows Control Panel.
The control panel applet lets you set the activation time to as little as one minute
and/or to use a custom bitmap. When the screen saver is active, simply touching
the screen deactivates it and the touch coordinates are discarded.
\DOC\PoleConfig
This file resides in the \DOC folder with no extension. At start-up, the WS4 API
checks for the presence of this file to determine the type of customer display that
will be supported.
If the PoleConfig file is not present, the API assumes a 2x20 VFD customer
display is installed, and sets the interface baud rate to 9600.
If the PoleConfig file is present and contains the statement LCDDISPLAY=0, the
API again assumes the 2x20 VFD customer display is installed and sets the
interface baud rate to 9600.
If the PoleConfig file is present and contains the statement LCDDISPLAY=1, the
API assumes the LCD Customer Display is installed and sets the interface baud
rate to 115K baud.
The Workstation 4 LX can autodetect the customer display type attached to the
workstation.
\DOC\Platform.Dat
This file resides in the \DOC folder. It contains version information used by the
CAL to determine if an upgrade is required.
\DOC\HWConfigSetup.Dat
This file first appeared with the GR 1.1 platform to support the change over from
the EOL Samsung LCD panel to a Sharp LCD Panel. During a platform upgrade,
the CAL examines this file to determine what type of LCD Panel is installed in
order to ensure the correct graphics driver and inf files are loaded.
\DOC\WS4BkgndImage.bmp
The Windows CE desktop wall paper. With each GR, it is updated to display the
English Platform (EngPlatform), Release Candidate (RC), and General Release
(GR) version numbers.
\DOC\MSRConfig
New to the GR 2.2 platform, this file is read by the WS4 API to determine if a
carriage return should be appended to mag card data.
