ROHS Inverter Board XBRB33, GR 2.0 Platform Files and Samsung LCD
mis-match. This can occur if the XBRB33 inverter board is installed on a unit
with the Samsung LCD and the GR 2.0 platform files.
The ROHS compliant version of the Backlight Inverter Board (XBRB33) has
the same MICROS P/N as the previous board (XB33), but uses a new
transformer with different operating characteristics.
The combination of the XBRB33 inverter board, Samsung LCD and GR2.0
software platform exhibit low backlight levels, primarily at the DIM and
NORMAL settings. Try the following:
•
Use an older backlight inverter (XB33) board if possible.
•
Upgrade the WS4 to GR 2.1.
•
Delete, rename, or modify the \DOC\HWInf\ddi_gx_sharp.inf file.
The ddi_gx_sharp.inf text file is read by the PCWS API (UWS4.DLL) at
start-up to adjust backlight PWM values on a system with the Sharp LCD.
When this file is present on a WS4 with a Samsung LCD and the new ROHS
backlight inverter board, the LCD backlights will be very dim as previously
mentioned. If you delete or rename this file, the WS4 API will not find it and
will automatically use a higher correction value.
•
Disconnected backlight tube(s) or bent pins on the inverter connector(s).
•
Defective backlight tube(s).
