ASR C ontrol Sw itch
ASR control switch located in
center console
To im prove the ve h icle ’s traction
when driving with snow chains, or
starting off in deep snow, sand or
gravel, press the upper half of the
ASR switch. The AS R w arning
lamp, located in the speedom eter
dial, is continuously illum inated.
With the ASR system sw itched off,
the engine torque reduction feature
is cancelled. Therefore, the en ­
hanced vehicle stability offered by
ASR is unavailable.
Adapt your speed and driving to
the prevailing road conditions.
A portion of the ASR system re­
m ains active, even with the switch
in the O FF position.
If one drive wheel loses traction
and begins to spin, the brake is
applied until the wheel regains
sufficient traction. The traction
control engages at vehicle speeds
up to approxim ately 24 mph
(40 km/h), and sw itches off at
50 mph (80 km/h).
Note:
Avoid spinning of one drive wheel.
Doing so may cause serious
dam age to the drive train which is
not covered by the M ercedes-Benz
Limited W arranty.
T he AS R w arning lam p, located in
the spee do m e te r dial, starts to
flash at any vehicle speed as soon
as the tires lose traction and the
w heels begin to spin.
To return to the enhanced vehicle
stability offered by AS R : press
low er half of the sw itch (the ASR
w arning lam p in the speedom eter
dial goes out).
Im portant!
If the ASR w arning lam p flashes:
• during take-off, apply as little
throttle as possible,
• w hile driving, ease up on the
accelerator.
