B abySm art™ system installed
in the vehicle to d eactivate the
passenger side fro n t airbag
w hen it is properly installed.
O therw ise they will be struck
by the airbag w hen it inflates in
a crash. If this happens,
serious or fatal injury will
result.
The back seat is the safest
place for child ren . Infants and
sm all children m ust ride in
back seats and be seated in an
infant o r child restraint system ,
w hich is properly secured with
the v e h ic le ’s seat belt, fully in
accordan ce w ith the seat
m an u factu rer’s instructions.
Children risk of serious or
fatal injuries is significantly
increased if the child restraints
are not properly secured in the
vehicle and they are not
properly secured in the child
restraint.
C hildren too big for child
restraint system s m ust ride in
back seats using regular seat
belts. Position shoulder belt
across chest and shoulder, not
face or neck. A booster seat
m ay be necessary to achieve
proper belt positioning.
B abyS m art™ Airbag
D eactivatio n System
Special child seats, designed
for use with the M ercedes-B enz
system and available at any
authorized M ercedes-B enz dealer
are required for use with the
BabySm art™ airbag deactivation
system.
W ith the special child seat properly
installed, the passenger front
airbag will not deploy. The B B
indicator lam p located on the
center console will be illum inated,
except with electronic key rem oved
or in steering lock position 0. The
system does not deactivate the
door m ounted side im pact airbag.
