CAMPHASE SENSOR
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The Cam phase sensor is a hall-effect type sensor. It is located on the cam cover. It uses the exhaust cam shaft trigger
wheel for reference and senses the Top dead center (TDC) of the No 1 cylinder in the compression stroke and allows
the ECU to determine when to start the injection.

NORMAL OPERATION
ECU provides a reference voltage to the cam phase sensor and monitors the output voltage from the sensor whether
it is within the specified range.
DTC Detecting Condition
Probable Causes
The cylinder No.1 identification signal is not sent to ECM for 4
seconds during engine cranking
The cylinder No.1 identification signal is not sent to ECM
during engine running.
The cylinder No.1 signal is not in the normal
pattern during engine running
Harness or Connectors
(The sensor circuit is open or shorted)
