Connect the smart tester

Turn the ignition ON

Initialise the diagnostic tool

Record the error codes and clear

Turn ignition OFF

Turn ignition ON

Verify if P1648 is present?
Is voltage 3.0 to
3.5V for C04
and 4.75 to
5.25V for C55?
NO
Does continuity
exist?
YES
Go to Step 4
Go to Step 3

Ignition OFF

Accelerator pedal sensor
connector DISCONNECTED

ECU connector CONNECTED

Check the continuity between
pin D and pin E of the
accelerator pedal sensor
connector
Step 2
NO

Ignition OFF

Check for any loose
or intermittent
connection of
accelerator pedal

Clear the error codes
and verify
YES

Turn ignition OFF

Accelerator pedal sensor
connector
DISCONNECTED

Turn ignition ON

Measure the voltage
between pin D of the
accelerator pedal connector
and battery negative

Clear the error codes and
verify
Is P1648 is present?
YES
NO
