Used to set the default tributary operation mode for the NE by
selecting the corresponding radio button (

The adaptive mode of tributary operation is

for the SDH interface standard. Nevertheless, it is
possible to set the tributary mode to
Adaptive-Rate
for SDH
by using the
WaveStar
®
CIT. However, such an illegal setting
will be rejected by the NE.
System Synch
Characteristics
Used to set the synchronization characteristics for the NE by
selecting the corresponding radio button (
SONET
characteristics or
SDH
characteristics).
This parameter basically impacts the default settings for the
expected external timing reference signals, the
Synchronization Status Message (SSM) handling, and the
output timing mode of operation.
Cross-Connect
Application
Used to set the cross-connect application for the NE by
selecting the corresponding radio button (
Traditional
or
ONNS
).
Maximum Switch
Capacity
Used to set the maximum switch capacity for the NE by
selecting the corresponding radio button (
LXC160
or
LXC320
or
LXC640
).
NOTE:
The maximum switch capacity is independent of the
type of cross-connect and timing unit used. However, the shelf
equipage concerning the cross-connect and timing units
depends on the maximum switch capacity.
