30.3 Radar troubleshooting
Problems with the radar and their possible causes and solutions are described here.
Problem

Possible solutions
Check that the scanner power supply cable is sound and
that all connections are tight and free from corrosion.
Check relevant fuses and breakers.
Radar scanner power supply
Check power source is of the correct voltage and sufficient
current (using voltage booster if appropriate).
Check that the Scanner is correctly connected to a
Raymarine network switch or SeaTalk
hs
crossover coupler
(as applicable).
Check the status of the Raymarine network switch.
SeaTalk
hs
/ RayNet network
problem
Check that SeaTalk
hs
/ RayNet cables are free from
damage.
Software mismatch between
equipment may prevent
communication.
Contact Raymarine technical support.
No Data or No scanner message
Switch at scanner pedestal in
OFF position
Ensure scanner pedestal switch is in ON position.
Radar will not initialize (Voltage
control module (VCM) stuck in
“sleep mode”
Intermittent or poor power
connection
Check power connection at VCM. (Voltage at input = 12 /
24 V, Voltage at output = 40 V)
The bearing of a target on the
radar screen is incorrect.
The radar bearing alignment
requires correcting.
Check and adjust radar bearing alignment.
