Reconnect all cables on the back of the printer.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer and a properly 
grounded electrical outlet.

Make sure the 

Ready

 message appears on the operator 

panel display.

If an error message appears, see “Understanding Printer 
Messages” on page 145.

Note:

To verify that the memory card option is installed properly, 
see “Verifying the Installation of Options” on page 249.

Flash Memory

The flash memory option is useful for storing information such as 
downloaded fonts, macros, symbol sets, logos, and forms. 

You can install one flash memory option in your printer. Flash 
memory options available are 1, 2, and 4MB.

Note:

Data stored in flash memory is retained when the printer is 
unplugged.

Accessing the Printer System Board on the 
Back of the Printer

Complete the following steps before you install a flash memory 
option:

1

Turn the printer around so the back is facing you.

2

Unplug the printer power cord.

3

Disconnect all cables from the back of the printer.
