Each message that appears in the event log has a severity level that
indicates the importance of the event, as shown in
Table 9.1 , a date and
timestamp, and a brief description. You can click an event to display the
same information in a window. (For a list of all events, see
Section Appendix A, “Events and Messages.” )
Table 9.1 Event Severity Levels
Severity Level Meaning
Information Informational message. No user action is necessary.
Warning Some component might be close to a failure point.
Critical A component has failed, but the system has not lost data.
Fatal A component has failed, and data loss has occurred or will
occur.
