Step 8.
Attach the drive retention clip that you removed from the previous drive to the side of the new drive.
Note:
Be sure to align the bend on the drive retention clip tab with the rear edge of the CD/DVD
drive. Your drive might have more mounting holes than what is shown in the illustration. Adjust the
retention clip alignment based on your drive.
Step 9.
Align the drive in the drive bay and slide the drive into the CD/DVD drive bay until the drive clicks
into place.
If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, go to “Completing the installation” on
page 123.
Installing a PCIe riser-card assembly
Use this information to install a PCIe riser-card assembly.
For the location of the PCIe riser-card slot on the system board, see “System-board internal connectors”
on page 28.
To install a PCIe riser-card assembly, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page v and the “Installation
guidelines” on page 38.
Step 2.
Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 23) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables from the server.
Step 3.
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 40).
Step 4.
Remove the riser-card filler.
Step 5.
If you are installing adapters into the PCIe riser-card assembly (see “Installing an adapter” on
page 69).
Step 6.
Align the PCIe riser-card assembly with the PCIe riser-card connector on the system board and
align it with the slot on the chassis; then, lower it into the server and press down firmly until the
riser-card assembly is seated correctly in the connector on the system board.
