Attention:
When you install an adapter, make sure that the adapter is correctly seated on the
system board connector before you turn on the server. An incorrectly seated adapter might cause
damage to the system board or the adapter.

Step 4.
Close the adapter retention latch.
Step 5.
Reconnect any cables that you disconnect earlier.
Step 6.
Perform any configuration tasks that are required for the adapter.
Step 7.
Replace the cover (see “Replacing the server top cover” on page 216).
Step 8.
Slide the server into the rack.
Step 9.
Reconnect the power cord and any cables that you removed.
Step 10. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.
Removing a RAID adapter flash power module
Use this information to remove a RAID adapter flash power module.
If a RAID adapter flash power module is installed remotely in the server and you need to replace the RAID
adapter flash power module, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page v and “Installation
guidelines” on page 38.
Step 2.
Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 23) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3.
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 216).
Step 4.
Locate the battery/flash power module trays on top of the USB/video assembly (above the operator
information panel).
Step 5.
Press the tray retention clip tab to the right or left and remove the retention clip. See
Step 6.
Disconnect the flash power module cable from the failed flash power module and remove it from
the tray.
