Perform the zero function whenever the stray ORL condition may have
changed.

To display the stored stray value, select

below [MAX/MIN].
To set up this feature (first select the ORL function):
•
Set up the stray optical condition
•
Press buttons below [RETURN LOSS], [RL - NF].
•
To adjust the stored value, press

, and then press button
below [SET] to store.
•
To re-set both these features to factory defaults, select
[RETURN LOSS],

, [DEFAULT] then [SET] to store.
User Calibration Mode (UCAL)
To compensate for optical loss in a test jig, set up the reference optical
condition:
•
Select [RETURN LOSS] and [RL- ADJ]. The offset value will
be shown on the left of the display.

Select [RL- ADJ] again to show reference only, then press

to adjust the display to the required value and [SET] to
store. A non-zero value is always displayed on left of
display.
•
To re-set both of these features to factory defaults, select
[RETURN LOSS],

, [Default] then [Set] to store.
The ORL value for an unmated PC polish connector in good condition
is approximately -14.3 dB.
