OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ENGINE AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS (EAS)
In order to meet ADR 80/03 engine emission requirements, vehicles must
have an Exhaust Aftertreatment System (EAS) which will include either
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) or a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
These are two very different systems and the T410 uses SCR for the
PACCAR MX-13 Euro V engines.
The T410 is equipped with a 24V EAS system.
PACCAR MX-13 ENGINE WITH SELECTIVE CATALYTIC
REDUCTION (SCR)
If your truck is equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) it uses
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF/AdBlue) to reduce emissions from diesel
engines. AdBlue is injected into the exhaust gas upstream of the catalyst.
AdBlue is consumable and needs to be replenished.

ADBLUE LOW LEVEL WARNING AND INDUCEMENT
The low AdBlue warning light will illuminate when the AdBlue level is at
12% to warn the operator to refill the SCR system, at 6% the light will start
to blink and the engine will derate. The derate would take affect when the
vehicle speed goes to 0 km/h or when the engine goes to idle.
Trucks with SCR and equipped with a battery isolation switch require
the driver to wait for at least 120 seconds after turning OFF the ignition
before switching OFF the battery isolation switch. This is to allow the
EAS system to purge any remaining AdBlue from the AdBlue lines.
Shutting off the battery isolation switch whilst the engine is running
or without waiting the required 120 seconds may cause AdBlue to
be trapped in the AdBlue lines. This could lead to a blockage of the
lines and cause serious damage to the EAS system.
