6-5-1 Digging

This applies to excavating from a position below the machine.
(1) Digging power is at its greatest when the bucket cylinder and side
links are at 90
°
and so are the arm cylinder and arm.
(2)
When digging using the arm, the most efficient range is with the
arm angle between 45
°
forward and 30
°
towards the machine.
(3) Work with the arm when digging.
If you operate the arm and the bucket enters the ground, operate
the bucket cylinder so that the bucket points move parallel with the
ground surface. If the action of the arm becomes sluggish due to
resistance to digging, lift the boom slightly.
(4)
Move the bucket points horizontally so that the bucket scrapes off
the ground surface. Then lift the bucket up.
