Q.
The data written on CD-R/RW media using another unit cannot be read on this
PC.
A.
• You may not be able to read the data which has been written using a multiple number of
drives. You may not be able to read the data on the media written by some drives.
• You may not be able to use the PC to read the data on some high-speed rewritable or
high-speed writable discs.
Q.
The “Region verification” screen appeared when attempting to play a DVD title.
A.
In order to watch a DVD title, the 1) disc, 2) drive (this unit) and 3) software player
(WinDVD) must all be set to the same region code (number).
In order to watch DVD titles destined for the European market, the region code
(number) must generally be set to “2”.
1. The region code has not been set for this unit as of its default settings. Therefore, in order to
watch a DVD title produced in Europe, you must first set “2” as the region code.
* When playing a DVD title with region code “2,” sometimes the unit’s region code is
set to “2” automatically.
2. To play a DVD title with a different region code, change the unit’s region code to match the
region code of the DVD title. However, you are allowed to change the region code in this
way only for five (5) times in total (including the default setting).
3. When “1” appears for the [Number of remaining changes allowed], it means that this is the
last time to change the region code. Therefore, you must set the region code to that which
you use most often.
After this, you will not be able to make any further changes in the region code. If you do
not set the region code to “2” as the last setting, you will not be able to play DVD titles
which are destined for the European market.
Caution
The user is responsible if any trouble should occur as a result of the user’s attempt to modify
the region code illegally. Also, the number of allowable changes cannot be reset by initiating
recovery.
