6.2.3

Dispatching

The Z2C’s streamlined Dispatch capability provides one-way communications (monitoring), and
two-way dispatch communications for any number of channels chosen by a system

Dispatcher

.

The

Dispatch Area

can be expanded for use, or it can remain closed. When closed, the Dispatch

bar will display the number of channels in the

Dispatch Area

, if it is populated.

To expand the

Dispatch Area

, click the arrow

 at the top right corner.

Figure 6-5:  Dispatch Area Expanded

The

Dispatch Area

 has two sections:

Dispatch Source Drop Zone:

Drag and drop any of the system resource icons onto it to

make that resource the Dispatch Source.

Dispatch  Resource  Drop  Zone

:  Any  or  all  of  the  remaining  system  resources  can  be

placed here.

6.2.3.1

Dispatch Source Drop Zone (the Dispatcher)

The

Dispatch Source

is the channel used by the dispatcher. The

Dispatch Source

Is used by the dispatcher to communicate with resources that are placed in the

Dispatch

Resource Drop Zone

Will  hear  any  incoming  audio  to  any  of  the  channels  in  the

Dispatch  Area

.  If  there  is

incoming audio to multiple channels that are in the

Dispatch Area

, the

Dispatch Source

will hear a mix.

Will  both  monitor  and  transmit  to  any  of  the

Dispatch  Area

  channels  that  have  been

placed in two-way communications mode.

Cannot be a member of an interoperability net while functioning as the

Dispatch Source

However, any or all members of a net can be placed in the

Dispatch Resource Drop Zone

Can be any of the channel icons. If it is already in a net, it will be removed from that net
when it is placed in the

Dispatch Source Drop Zone

Can be an audio console with boom mic.

Note:

The Dispatcher’s ability to monitor is separate from the

Monitors Area

 of the Z2C GUI

and that feature. For examples using Monitors (which allow non-Dispatcher channels to monitor
or  listen  to  one  or  more  other  channels)  see  Section  6.2.4
