Z2C Installation and Operation Manual
Note
: If encryption is available on the remote resource you are connecting, it must be enabled,
have the same
Type
of encryption (HC‑128 or AES‑256), and the
Audio Encryption String
must
match what is configured for the channel in the Z2C. Encryption may not be available on all
types of remote units, or it may be limited to one encryption type. Verify that both ends of the
encryption settings for the connection (Z2C and the remote unit) match. If there is a mismatch,
audio will be unintelligible.
The remaining settings for the JPS Bridge channel on the RSP‑Z2 are shown and explained
below.
Figure 5-6: RSP-Z2 to Z2C Connection Settings
There is a single local Network Setting; the
Listening Bridge Port
. That is a local port on the
RSP‑Z2 that will be used, along with the next highest port, for communication between the
RSP‑Z2 JPS Bridge channel and the Z2C. The RSP‑Z2’s default JPS Bridge channel
configuration will begin with a pair of recommended Listening Bridge Ports; one for each
backhaul, defaulting to 5004 and 5006. It does not matter what ports are actually used, as long as
they are unique, even-numbered ports on the RSP‑Z2 between 1024 and 65534. The Z2C will
automatically detect the RSP‑Z2’s Listening Bridge Port after the RSP‑Z2’s Bridge channel
connects to it. (I.e. The Z2C will automatically know which port to send audio on to talk back to
the RSP‑Z2).
In the
Remote Connections
settings,
Auto Connect
must be set to
Always
when using the RSP‑Z2
as part of a Z2C system. This ensures that the connection will persist through reboots, power
cycles, or whatever else may temporarily terminate the link.
The
IP Address
is the IP address of the Z2C. The port must be a unique even-numbered port on
the Z2C corresponding to the appropriate open resource. This is the port that was assigned (or
that you chose) for the JPS Bridge channel on the Z2C
Expansion Bridge
table.
