Security - User Types and Permissions
Click
Security
in the top banner to display the drop-down menu containing the options
User
Types
and
Users
. Access these pages to set User Types, define user roles and permission, and
add or edit users.
A
User Type
is associated with a set of permissions. The Super User role always has (of necessity)
all permissions because there must be at least one user who can perform the various roles, most
particularly
Configure Users and Roles
.
Figure 4-1: User Types Page – Edit and Add User Types
Without at least one Super User, the system could be configured so that no one had the ability to
change passwords or remove and add users. Therefore, while the name and password assigned
to the initial factory default Super User can (and should) be modified for enhanced security, it is
not possible to change the Super User’s permissions (above), nor is it possible to delete this user.
If additional users are given Super User status, it will be possible to delete these users.
To create a new user type, click the
New User Type
button on the User Types page. Name the
User Type
and select which permissions are allowed, then click
Submit
. Unlike default User
Types, custom User Types may be deleted.
