Manually Rebuilding an Array
A manual rebuild or an auto rebuild is a background process that is effective for
all RAID levels except RAID 0. The rebuild activity will reconstruct data and
parity on a replacement member drive when one of the member drives of a
redundant array set fails. System performance will be impacted during rebuilds.
A manual rebuild is required if there are no spares (dedicated or global) in the
enclosure; otherwise, auto rebuild will begin immediately. For more information
