48 Chapter 4 - Maintaining the System

Using a No. 1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the fan from the assembly.

Install the new fan to the assembly and connect the power cable.

Install the fan assembly into the chassis and connect the fan power
cable to the system board.

Replace the option board bracket.

Close the base unit.

System Hard Disk Drive Fan

To replace the system hard disk drive fan:

Remove the top cover and left side panel. The fan is secured to the
back cover.

Remove the seven screws from the back cover as shown in the
following figure. Pull on the side of the cover opposite the AC
receptacle to disengage the back cover.
